Thought And Discovery
When Singapore implemented the VTL, we booked a December flight to Copenhagen as there were no travel restrictions to and from Singapore.
Where to go?
After the emergence of omicron and the travel ban by Denmark, we went to Switzerland instead. Still, it stuck in my mind that I ought to make a trip to Denmark some time later.

New travel strategy for now - One Trip One Country
I checked the feasibility of a two-week Denmark trip since Covid measures would ease in February.
Denmark - One trip One country
Relatedly, I had wanted to go to the Faroe Islands in 2020. Greenland came to my mind as well, as I might be able to catch the Northern Lights again.
Denmark's News headlines

However, it was quite a precarious time during the pandemic as far as travel restrictions and safety went. Maybe because of that, I did not discuss the potential of a Denmark trip much with others as it would be deemed inconsiderate/mad/crazy?
<<There was still fear of infection, uncertainty and I'm yakking about travel again???>>

With both trepidation and excitement, I booked the trip three weeks prior to departure.
<<Leaden with buts, what ifs and why not, the 'why-not' won 😈😁>>

Five days tour each of Greenland and Faroe and a couple of days for Copenhagen!
<<Just GO - the virus may mutate again and I might miss my chance otherwise πŸ™… >>

Most Remarkable - Greenland
I went to Greenland primarily with the hope of catching the northern lights. I was also drawn by its massive natural landscapes and the fact that it was not yet as touristy.
Ilulissat, Greenland
Despite having looked at many photos of Ilulissat's landscape on the web both in the past and while planning the trip, I was still stunned by the surreal landscape and the extremity of the climate when I was actually there to experience it. Being there also made me deeply admire the resilience of the locals living there.
<<Greenland was the MOST memorable part of the tripπŸ’—πŸ‘πŸ˜˜>>

Faroe Islands
The Faroe Islands was pretty.
Faroe Islands
However the 'moody' weather and several hiccups by the tour company did put a damper on the trip. Still, I'm glad that I finally visited the islands.

Encounters
Other than the beautiful landscape, what made the trip rather remarkable was the locals.
Encounters
On my Air Greenland flight - one let me have her window seat 😘, the ilulissat's dog-sled driver's smile and chat, and the Faroe's bus driver who gave me a free ride (because of my tour's hiccup).

It was also pleasant to watch the school children having fun during a break in the playground and to observe considerate cyclists who signalled their intention to make a turn on the roads. 😊

The few interactions I had with the locals in the hotel, attraction venues, cafe and train station were helpful too.
<< It was nice to travel in a country that's ranked the happiest in the world?! 😍 or maybe I was lucky enough to meet only the happy people?>>

Cousin Jen had requested that I helped to check the price of a Chanel wallet.
Chanel, Valentino, LV, Gucci and more

I found the Chanel shop, which was rather crowded (with locals?) and the wallet was out of stock. I became aware that many of the locals were decked out in fashionable brands.
<<Maybe what I considered expensive is 'not that expensive' to them ?!>>

Pandemic Considerations
After a negative covid test in the Copenhagen airport upon arrival from the Faroe Islands, I changed my Singapore flight to a day earlier to be within 48 hours so that the test result could be used.
Negative Test - Time to make my way to the airport
The thought of possible infection and being quarantined in Copenhagen did weigh on my mind and I ultimately decided to play it as safe as possible.
<<I was quite tempted to do the Antibody test (DKK 299) prior to departure πŸ˜‰>>
On the way home
As I boarded the plane bound for Singapore, I looked back on the trip and was happy and thankful that I had enjoyed myself without any covid troubles throughout. 😊
