Johor Bahru by Bus and Train from Singapore - Half-day of Eat, Walk and Shop

9:30AM : We met at Kranji MRT for our second trip to Johor Bahru (JB).

There are two bus services to go Johor Bahru (JB) - the Causeway Link and SBS Bus 170. We took the Causeway Link bus as the queue was shorter.

The ticket cost S$1, taking the passengers from Kranji MRT to Singapore Immigration Building for customs, and then onto the Causeway to Johor Bahru Immigration Centre.

9:45 AM : We alighted at the Singapore Immigration Building, cleared the Customs, and then went outside of the building to queue for the bus again to cross the Causeway.

9:53 AM:There was no traffic jam and we alighted at the Johor Bahru Immigration building after crossing the Causeway.

10:27 AM: The customs queue was long but it moved rather quickly. By the time we cleared the Customs, the queue had gotten longer.

10:38 AM: Before going to City Square Shopping Centre, we bought the 2pm KTM Malalysia train ticket (rm$5) and also started shopping in the JB Sentral shops.

~10:45 AM : We had a late breakfast at Nonya Leaf at Komtar Shopping Centre, and then walked to City Square to shop. The shopping centre was quite quiet, with little crowd. We decided to lunch at Souper Tang.
~12:50AM : We wandered back to Komtar to shop at the supermarket, back to City Square to have coffee and a snack(at Nonya Leaf again) before proceeding to the JB Sentral to take the train.

~2PM : From our first experience taking the KTM, we knew that the train had free seating. We took the 5 minutes train journey back to Singapore.

2:20 PM : It was a good trip as there wasn't a long wait at both the customs, we shopped and ate at reasonable prices, and included some walking to reduce the guilt of over-eating :).
Maybe in the future, we could do a longer trip, such as a homestay.

Since there are many places to explore in JB, more trips up north are definitely in the short-term plan.

My first JB trip using public transport was organized by TM, and led by her partner, CCY in June. For this trip, Thanks to TP who designated herself as the CEO of the tour group, CCY as the official tour guide, and I played the role of their customer (one and only one :)).
